I understand the move to nursing degrees was instigated by the last Labour government.

You may be right Joe, nurses need to be qualified and trained somehow but they shouldn't be paying for their training, and this Government has made a bad situation far worse... and especially so during the pandemic since February 2020.

You need someone who didnt go to Harrow or some other private school. Nobody born with a silver spoon in their mouth or lives on a huge estate. Someone who has worked for a living.
These are the type of people who get in the Danish government and they do a good job. They then mobve on to get good jobs in the EU. We dont have an old boys network.

In Scotland they do not pay for training as far as I know.

I think the point isn’t the move to make nursing require a degree(which atm isn’t strictly the case, Nursing associates(NA, they have a pin and reg with the NMC) more so that the tories removed the bursary support. I wonder how long it will be before the gov use NA in the stats as “x many more nurses on the front line” etc!
