I must have a more comfortable/relaxed road bike.
My LBS has made an offer for my Giant Defy carbon.......not what I hoped but I suppose realistic.
My son wants my Giant Talon 1 hardtail although IMO its too small for him.
I am trying to decide between
    a) Cannondale Quick 1 (ally frame as they no longer do the carbon frame version).
    b) Whyte Stirling.
Similar geometry. Both 105s. Similar weight (so I am told) at around 10 Kg.
    Any thoughts/comments welcome.
I also fancy the Spec' Sirrus but £1500 and its not even 105s puts me off (plus ive yet to actually sit on one).

Get the Whyte, something a bit different from a British brand :okay:

Both nice bikes, but I’d go for the Whyte out of the two.

  4. Buy the one on which you can pull the sickest wheelies.

If there's genuinely little to choose, I'd go for the Whyte. The Taiwanese built brand are a little bit different.

I know a Triban isn't one of your two options but you can get the full Sora all frame bike for £499 - it is cable brakes but £500 is £500.

I'm sure Whyte make fine bikes but imagine when you tell a fellow enthusiast you have one, its a bit like saying you've got a chair, very worthy but rather boring.
Names like Cinelli, Bianchi would engender a much more enthusiastic response, even latter day brands such as Specialized, Cannondale etc.

    Thanks for that.
It is a medium I need.
My LBS is more expensive but they will set it up for me and buy my Defy.
I realise I am fortunate but getting best service etc is more important than saving a few quid. I do appreciate your suggestion.

exactly …. why does it matter what anyone else thinks, fellow enthusiast or not, or how they respond when you tell them what you've got, .........unbelievable
